Sweet Snow Day Treat

The boys and I were so excited this morning when we all got the announcement that school and work where closed due to snowy weather, YIPPY!!!  Although I was not prepared grocery-wise for such event but I decided to make due with what I had so here is an old recipe that I dug up for a tasty afternoon snack.

Sweet Cinnamon Churros with Dulce De Leche Dip:

Churros:
Flour for dusting
1/2 pkg. frozen puff pastry sheets, thawed
2 Tbsp. butter, melted
4 Tbsp. Cinnamon/Sugar Mix

Preheat oven 400*F.  Line cookie sheet with parchment paper.  Lightly sprinkle surface with flour.  Unfold thawed puff pastry onto surface; brush with melted butter.  Sprinkle with cinnamon/sugar mix, roll over with rolling pin to press into dough; flip and repeat butter and cinnamon/sugar on the other side.  Cut pastry into four squares using pizza cutter.  Cut each square into four strips; twist strips twice.  Bake 12-14 minutes or until golden brown.  Slide parchment and churros onto cooling rack; cool for 5 minutes.

Dip:
1/4 cup heavy whipping cream
2 tsp instant coffee granules
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1 can(13.4 oz.) dulce de leche

Mix cream, coffee granules, cinnamon and dulce de leche together in medium batter bowl.  Microwave in HIGH 1 minute or until hot; whisk together until smooth.  Serve dip with churros.
